Giclees
A giclee is a fine art reproduction created digitally and printed by digital printers. The word ‘Giclee’ (pronounced zhee-clay) comes from the French words that translates loosely to ‘a spray’. An extremely fine spray of five colors of water soluble ink is sprayed onto the canvas and the soft effect that it produces blends together and looks as though it were painted. The hand embellishment then adds the impasto highlights and brush strokes to give each print the look and feel of an original painting on canvas and the final overall varnish, in essence, says “oil painting”. The embellished giclee is as close to resemble the original painting as possible and they are as archival as can be achieved with today’s technology. They are framed professionally and each has a brass nameplate attached. Each print of the limited edition is initialed and numbered by the artist on the back of the canvas.
